Lumi & Löyly
Two dates only · January 31 & February 14
A Takka Superior Experience
Cold air. Quiet trails. Lake Superior doing what it’s always done. Spend some time outside, then come warm up properly.
For two dates only (Saturday, January 31st and Saturday, February 14th), Takka Superior hosts Lumi + Löyly — a limited winter pop-up sauna on the shore of Lake Superior. Sessions are small and intentionally limited.
This is not our regular winter sauna. Sisu is required.
Löyly
Snowy, 90-minute sessions at Takka Superior include robes, towels, water, and electrolytes. Sessions are priced by group size. All sessions are private.
2 people — $130
4 people — $240
6 people — $330
Unlike Takka Portage, this winter pop-up at Takka Superior is quieter, more weather-dependent, and offered on limited dates.
Full refunds will be available if Takka Saunas needs to postone due to weather. Reservations are transferrable until 24-hours before your appointment.
Lumi
We encourage you to spend some time outside before your session.
That might mean a walk, snowshoeing nearby trails at Fresh Coast Cabins (rent a pair from Wise Old Man in Copper Harbor), enjoying a nice XC ski at Eagle Harbor or East Bluff Trails, or just being out in the cold for a bit. Nothing extreme. No checklist. Winter already does the work.
When you arrive:
Check-in with your guide and enter the sauna for your 75-minute private session
Take breaks as needed. Cycle through hot, cold, rest, and repeat.
Leave fully and completely in love with winter on Lake Superior
Sauna has a way of changing the rest of your day. Experience hot - cold - rest - repeat on the shores of Lake Superior.
Let’s Sauna
Saturday, January 31
A straightforward winter sauna day at Takka Superior.
Get outside beforehand if you can — a walk, snowshoe, or time in the cold — then come sauna.
This date is ideal if you:
Want the Lake Superior setting in winter
Prefer something quieter and less structured
Are looking for a true pop-up experience
Saturday, February 14
A different kind of date day.
This Valentine’s Day session is about time together — not crowds, not noise, not rushing. Just winter, the lake, and shared sauna.
This sauna was featured in the New York Times last winter and has become a true “wow” experience for partners who want something memorable and grounded.
